Human-centered research in spatial and intelligent systems

My research examines how people experience spatial and intelligent systems, combining mixed-reality and AR prototypes, controlled perception studies and participatory workshops. It was conducted primarily at UNIST’s Integration and Innovation Design Lab (IID Lab) under Prof. KwanMyung Kim.

Get the highlights.

  • MSc, UNIST, February 2026. Graduating in Engineering Design, two years after joining the IID Lab.

  • Thesis defended, December 2025. A framework for designing robots’ physical actions. A paper based on it is in review at ACM CHI 2027.

  • IASDR 2025, Taipei. A full paper on robot actions, a pictorial on AI-generated video, and Don Norman at the poster session.

  • Lemmy on show, 2025. Demos at CES 2025, where it won an Innovation Award, and at the Gwangju Design Biennale.

  • First place, 2024. Bangudae XR brings Ulsan’s prehistoric petroglyphs indoors on Meta Quest 3.

Industry research projects

Funded projects at UNIST’s IID Lab with industry and government partners, since February 2024.

Personal projects

Three focused studies of established HCI problems.

These projects needed tools that didn’t exist yet, so I built them. See the tools
