Layered-Based Parallax for Enhanced Immersiveness in 180° Stereoscopic VR - Novel Research
The research presents "Layered-Based Parallax," an innovative technique to enhance immersion in stereoscopic virtual reality by leveraging multi-layer compositing. This approach divides scenes into multiple 2D layers—foreground, mid-ground, and background—allowing dynamic depth and occlusion effects based on user head movements, which mimic real-world depth perception. By combining pre-rendered stereoscopic layers with real-time parallax adjustments, the method achieves a balance between visual fidelity and computational efficiency, addressing limitations of both pre-rendered static scenes and computationally demanding real-time 3D rendering. The study explores its theoretical foundations, implementation using tools like Blender and Unreal Engine 5, and potential applications in VR media, with plans to automate the process and expand to dynamic environments in future research.

Cultural Preservation through XR implimentation | Destinction ( 1 st Prize ) at Korea's Cultural Heritage Preservation contest (DINNO '24)
I was honoured with 1st Place at the Cultural Heritage Preservation Contest during the Digital Innovation Festival (DINNO '24) at COEX, Seoul, for my project, “Cultural Preservation of Bangudae Petroglyph through XR Implementation.” This initiative explores the use of Extended Reality (XR) to digitally preserve and promote the Bangudae Petroglyph, making cultural heritage more accessible and immersive for diverse audiences. Presenting at this prestigious event was an incredible opportunity to gain valuable feedback from experts, and I am deeply grateful to my mentors, Professor KwanMyung Kim and Professor Jinho Park, for their unwavering support, as well as Korea Heritage Services for hosting this platform. This achievement inspires me to continue refining the project and collaborating with organizations to bring this vision to life.
